Auberger Zitat

“More than 2‘000 patients (per year) will be potential candidates for ion therapy in Austria. This amounts to 12 per cent of all irradiated patients in Austria and 5.5 per cent of all new cancer cases per year. Similar data were achieved with partially rather different evaluation modalities in Italy and France which amount to 14% and 16% of irradiated patients per year respectively. A further calculation which transferred the results of the Austrian survey to the neighboring Eastern European countries come to an amount of about 8’700 patients suited for particle therapy in Hungary, Slowenia, Slowakia and Czech Republic. There is a clear need for more than all currently planned ion centers in Europe.”
